Truck drivers dead in 2-vehicle crash in Belgium, Wisconsin

Two drivers are dead after a fiery crash involving two semi-trucks in Ozaukee County; both drivers were from northeast Wisconsin.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office in Belgium, Wisconsin responded to the horrible tragedy that occurred in that community. Sadly, both drivers were killed in the collision.

On Thursday, 09/08/22 at approximately 6:35pm the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2-vehicle crash on 143 southbound 0.3 of a mile south of Sandy Beach Rd. in the Town of Belgium.

A northbound tractor trailer operated by Milton Christensen, age 50, of Suring, WI left the roadway, traveled through the interstate median, entered the southbound lanes of 143 and struck a southbound tractor trailer operated by Richard Wysocki, age 69, of Wausaukee, WI. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and both drivers succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

143 northbound and southbound lanes of traffic were closed during the investigation and cleanup of the scene.

At approximately 10:41pm northbound lanes of 143 were re-opened to vehicle traffic and 143 was fully re-opened on Friday, 09/09/22 at 1:18am.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains on-going.

The following agencies assisted at the scene: Port Washington PD, Saukville PD, Wisconsin State Patrol, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Mequon PD, Belgium FD, Fredonia FD, Port Washington FD, Waubeka FD, Ozaukee County Emergency Management, Cedarburg Emergency Management, Ozaukee County Hwy Dept., Milwaukee Fire Belle and Lansers Towing.
