2 dead, including 4-year-old girl, after shots fired into crowd in Akron, Ohio

A representative for the Akron Police Department stated that investigators are looking for the suspect(s) who were responsible for the shooting that took the lives of two persons, including a young child of four years old, on Friday night.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., shots were reportedly fired at a celebratory gathering that was located in the 700 block of Princeton Street. This area is situated close to the boundary between the downtown area and the Summit Lake neighborhood.
The spokesperson verified that the victims, a kid aged four and a man aged forty, passed away as a result of their injuries while being treated at local hospitals.
According to the police, the autopsies will be carried out by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A spokeswoman stated that people had gathered in a parking lot when “one or more unknown individuals” began shooting into the throng. The shots were heard coming from the direction of the crowd.
According to the police, neither the circumstances nor the motivation behind the shooting are known.
The shooting was described as a “senseless tragedy” by the spokesman, who said that Mayor Dan Horrigan, Chief Steve Mylett of the Akron Police Department, and various faith-based leaders are all praying for peace and pushing the community to join together in response to the tragedy.
According to the spokeswoman, the Akron Police Department has not made any arrests as of Saturday morning.
