Two Israelis murdered in a deadly Palestinian shooting attack in Samaria

On Sunday afternoon, two Israelis were killed in a shooting attack near the village of Huwara in Samaria, increasing the number of Israelis murdered by terrorists in the past month to 13.

The victims, reportedly in their 20s, received CPR from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah medical personnel.

A spokesperson from Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that at 13:41, the MDA 101 Emergency Call Center received a notification of two individuals injured on Route 60 near Huwara.

MDA EMTs and paramedics tended to the two victims, who were in critical condition. Emergency medic Gil Bismuth from MDA stated that upon arriving at the scene, they found the two injured young men lying unconscious beside the car.

Along with an IDF medical team, they administered initial medical aid in the field and transported the victims in military intensive care vehicles to the hospital, where they remained in serious condition.

According to United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Shlomo Rakover, a team of first responders performed CPR on two young men who were in critical condition, along with other responders.

The victims were then taken to the hospital while CPR was still in progress, but they ultimately succumbed to their wounds.

Hillel Menachem Yaniv, aged 22, and his 20-year-old brother, Yagel Yaakov Yaniv, were fatally shot while driving through the Arab village of Huwara on Route 60, which serves as the main north-south traffic route in Judea and Samaria.

The shooter, who fled the scene, is being pursued by IDF forces.

The two individuals who were shot and killed in Huwara on Route 60 were brothers, 22-year-old Hillel Menachem Yaniv and 20-year-old Yagel Yaakov Yaniv.

They were on their way back to their respective hesder (pre-army) yeshivas after visiting their home in Har Bracha. Hillel, who had recently completed his military service in the Israeli navy, was studying in Kiryat Shemona and was preparing to continue his yeshiva studies.

Meanwhile, Yagel Yaakov, a student at Givat Olga hesder yeshiva, was assisting in the opening of a new branch in Tirat HaCarmel and was about to start the pre-induction process before his formal draft into the army.

An IDF spokesperson reported receiving a notification of a shooting incident at the Einabus intersection in the Samaria Brigade area. Later, the IDF stated that a terrorist fired at an Israeli vehicle, injuring the two individuals inside.

Yossi Dagan, the chairman of the Samaria Regional Council, expressed his thoughts on the incident while en route to the scene. He stated that this was a grave incident and that the government must change its approach from defense to offense.

He argued that terrorists should not be free to shoot innocent civilians in broad daylight, and the ferocity of such attacks indicates that there is no deterrence in place.

Dagan suggested that the instructions for opening fire must be modified, checkpoints should be reinstated, and the terrorist infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority must be proactively weakened.

He added that the people of Israel and Samaria are resilient and will not succumb to the murderous terrorism of the Palestinian Authority.

Huwara is a Palestinian Arab town on Route 60, which Israelis frequently use to reach settlements in Samaria, such as Kedumim.
