Maine West High School on lockdown after active shooter alarm accidentally goes off

Update: According to a statement released by Maine Township High School District 207, a north suburban high school is presently under lockdown due to an accidental triggering of the “active shooter” alarm.

Although the police are present at Maine West High School in Des Plaines, they have yet to uncover any potential dangers.

The school district suspects that the alarm may have gone off because of a system malfunction or due to an accidental button press.

Regardless, the school has been put on lockdown to ensure the safety of both students and staff, and the district has advised parents not to visit the school.

Law enforcement officials are presently clearing the premises.

A number of different law enforcement organizations are reacting to unconfirmed reports of active shooter at Maine West High School in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.
