US shoots down ‘object’ over Lake Huron after restricting airspace over Lake Michigan
The U.S. military has shot down an unidentified object over Lake Huron.
An object flying at high altitude was brought down over Lake Huron in the vicinity of Michigan.
Representative Jack Bergman of Michigan expressed his appreciation for the prompt action taken by the fighter pilots in a social media post.
However, he noted that the public deserves more information. Representative Elissa Slotkin of Michigan also commented on the event, tweeting that the object was brought down by pilots from the US Air Force and National Guard.
This was confirmed by a US official. This was the third instance of an unidentified object being shot down in consecutive days.
In response, US and Canadian authorities temporarily restricted some airspace over the lake while aircraft were deployed to intercept and identify the object.
The Federal Aviation Administration also declared part of Lake Michigan as national defense airspace, prohibiting civilian use of the area, but did not provide an explanation. Neither the FAA nor the Pentagon have given any official comment on the restriction.
