Johnny Depp Wins Defamation, Jury Awards $15 Million, Amber Wins $2M in Countersuit

Verdict reached in Johnny Depp & Amber Heard defamation trial

Net result — Amber owes Johnny $13 million.

The jury has unanimously ruled in favour of Johnny Depp, finding that Amber Heard’s statement that he is a sexual abuser constitutes slander. In addition, the jury determined that Heard’s claims in the Washington Post were malicious. The jury awarded Depp $5 million in punitive damages in addition to $10 million in compensatory damages.

Now, here is the catch… Amber won her countersuit for defamation and was granted $2 million. Johnny defamed Amber and her friends by accusing them of fabricating a tale for the police at the direction of her attorney and publicist.

Net result — Amber owes Johnny $13 million.

It appears the jury has ruled in favor of either Amber, Johnny or both on their defamation allegations because the judge just told the jury to go back and calculate damages. We await the ruling and will continue the live feed.

Today, the seven-person jury in Fairfax, Virginia, reached a verdict.

The verdict is anticipated to be announced at 20.00. (BST).

It comes after the Pirates of the Caribbean actor sued his ex-wife for defamation in 2018 over a story she published in The Washington Post.

Heard did not mention Depp by name in the piece, but he alleges that it has cost him acting opportunities.

Later, the Aquaman star sued her ex-husband back for $100 million.

The trial has turned into a fight over proving the truth about how they really feel about each other.

The famous trial has been going on for more than a month, and the first arguments will start on April 12, 2022.

Throughout the trial, Depp has maintained that he was never abusive to Heard during their relationship or marriage.

He alleges his ex-wife victimized him with domestic violence.

Kate Moss, who was called as a witness, denied that her ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp “pushed her down the stairs.”

The supermodel was a surprise witness summoned by Depp who refuted Heard’s claims that she felt linked to Moss since Depp allegedly threw her down the stairs while they were dating in the 1990s.
