Virginia State Police investigating after woman shot while driving on I-295 in Hopewell

A 36-year-old Hopewell woman was allegedly being shot from behind by a person in an unidentified vehicle while she was travelling north on I-295 in Hopewell at around 12:53 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7.

An incident that took place on Saturday, January 7 at around 12:53 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in the City of Hopewell is currently under investigation by the Virginia State Police.

A 2009 Toyota Camry was driving north on I-295 when an unknown car came up behind it and started shooting at it as it went down the highway.

The Toyota was being driven by a Hopewell woman, age 36. After being struck, she was able to stop at the 13-mile point. She was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center where non-life-threatening wounds were attended to.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
