Lockdown lifted at West Valley College in Saratoga, Two suspects detained

Update: On Monday, West Valley College in Saratoga went into lockdown for several hours due to the presence of an armed intruder on campus.

Two individuals have been detained in connection with the incident, according to the school.

The lockdown was initiated at approximately 11 a.m. after an employee reported seeing a person carrying a rifle in the vicinity of a parked red Cadillac.

Students were terrified and some were crying, fearing that there might be a shooting. Katherine Pears, a student, described how they turned off the lights and huddled together against the teacher’s desk.

The lockdown was lifted shortly after 1:30 p.m. when authorities declared the campus safe.

Lee Ann Meyers, a parent, described the experience as frightening and nerve-wracking, not knowing what was happening or where the intruder was located. Lee, her son, was one of the students who was on lockdown.

A spokesperson has confirmed that there have been no gunshots fired at West Valley College in Saratoga. However, there was a report of a man carrying a firearm in one of the parking lots, and as a precautionary measure, the school implemented a lockdown.

Will send another message when it’s safe. Options: RUN if you can safely run OFF CAMPUS – No driving cars. Leave belongings behind. HIDE if you do not know where the threat is or how many suspects are involved, FIGHT if an intruder comes into your hiding place. You will be notified as soon as possible when it is safe.
