West Virginia police arrested a juvenile male for shooting threat at Ripley Middle School

Minor was arrested last night. Attack was planned for today.

During the late afternoon and early evening hours this date, Jackson County deputies responded to a call for service regarding a potential school shooting threat that had been planned for today at Ripley Middle School.

Deputies quickly apprehended the juvenile male at a rural county location and seized electronic devices that corroborated the initial fears.

Upon further investigation, the threat appeared to be genuine and sincere in nature and somewhat thought out by the suspect.

As a result, the juvenile has been placed under arrest and charged with TERRORISTIC THREATS and is currently awaiting placement in a state juvenile facility.

The investigation has been worked jointly with the Jackson County Board of Education and Superintendent Will Hossaflook and will continue to be monitored and investigated to the fullest extent.

There are no other threats or concerns at this time, as we feel fortunate to have been notified at an early stage, which gave opportunity for a thorough investigation outside the presence and attendance of children and staff. It is our steadfast position that the threat is null and void at this time.
