Wylie Police Department LOOKING FOR A BLACK MALE WEARING ALL BLACK AND POSSIBLY CARRYING A KNIFE.

Update: The Wylie Police Department said it is safe and OK for our campuses to lift the “secure” mode (formerly known as lockout). We are now back to our regular campus operations.
We are grateful for the Wylie PD and their commitment to keeping our campuses and community safe. For any questions about the police activity in the area, please direct them to WPD.
To learn more about safety and security in Wylie ISD, including terms that we utilize, please click here. Additionally, as an FYI for our families with a Wylie High student, the WHS administration will be sending out a communication shortly.
There is nothing more important to us than the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your continued support of our schools.
NIXEL WAS SENT OUT TO THE CITY OF WYLIE IN CONNECTION WITH THE POLICE ACTIVITY IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREA OF THE REGENCY AND STEEL. WE ARE SEARCHING FOR A BLACK MALE WHO IS DRESSED ENTIRELY IN BLACK AND MAY BE CARRYING A KNIFE.
Schools in the vicinity of the police activity in the city of Wylie have been placed in lockout status at this time.
Wylie Independent School District issued a following statement:
The impacted campuses are 𝐖𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 and 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞. The schools are in “secure” mode (formerly known as lockout). This means all exterior doors remain locked and no one may enter or exit the building.
Secure mode is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. Classes are going on as usual at Draper and Cooper, and Wylie High is operating on a modified schedule.
These campuses will communicate again to families once the “secure” has been lifted or if there are any updates. Thank you WPD for keeping our kiddos and staff safe!
Draper Intermediate School statement: Due to police activity in the area of our schools, Cooper Junior High and Draper Intermediate are in “secure” mode. This means all exterior doors remain locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building.
Please know that our students and staff are safe and learning is continuing. We will update families once we are no longer in “secure.”
As always, the safety and security of students and staff is our top priority.
We will provide any new information that we have in connection with this occurrence.
